Brunei has signed up to the International Trademark system

On 6 October 2016, the Government of Brunei submitted to WIPO its accession form to the Madrid Protocol on the International registration of trademarks, taking the total number of member countries in the Convention on international trademarks to 98.

Brunei will officially become a member of the Madrid Protocol on January 6, 2017, at which point it will be possible to apply for the protection of a trademark in Brunei when depositing an international trademark or extending an existing international registration.
