As of 9 April 2018, the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) is a member of the standardised database for products and services to classify trademarks TMclass.
Today, TMclass is one of the largest databases for the classification of trademarks. Easy to consult, it enables the identification of the commodity class to which a particular product or service belongs. It simultaneously displays the translation of the identified term into the various languages of the member countries. Thus, it helps simplify and speed up the classification process.
With ARIPO’s membership, the national offices included in the TMclass database now number 67, whereas there are 44 languages available into which the products and services can be translated.
